12th Class Chapter No 6 - Primitive values, wrapper classes, types and casting in Computers for ISC

Wrapper classes are objects encapsulating primitive Java types. Each Java primitive has a corresponding wrapper: boolean, byte, short, char, int, long, float, double. Boolean, Byte, Short, Character, Integer, Long, Float, Double.
Wrapper classes are used to convert any data type into an object. The primitive data types are not objects; they do not belong to any class; they are defined in the language itself. Sometimes, it is required to convert data types into objects in Java language.
In Java, there are two types of casting:
  1. Widening Casting (automatically) - converting a smaller type to a larger type size. byte -> short -> char -> int -> long -> float -> double.
  2. Narrowing Casting (manually) - converting a larger type to a smaller size type. double -> float -> long -> int -> char -> short -> byte.
